A House with a Pool
“This house has a lovely outdoor pool,” said the woman dressed in a cardboard brown suit as she led Alice outside.
At xanadu dusk, the males of the species whiz by on their bicycles. I wonder where they are going in such a hurry. The females ride their bicycles or roller skates slower. What is it with the male obsession with speed? Maybe it is because they die earlier than women. Maybe it is the speed that gets them there faster?

The streets were already dark save for some street lights. One flickered overhead as she passed. It’s orange flickering was unnerving. She held her breath and quickened her step. Being out alone at night was the hardest. Just a few blocks and she’d be there, she reminded herself. She focused on steady breathing and moving forward as quickly as possible.
