Violet Violence
The storm comes suddenly
Winds carrying the smell
Of violet violence
Like limes and grass and earth
The birds have flown
Taking with them the sense of calm
Violet violence fills the air
With dread and chaos
A palpable rough moistness
Of a viscous scarlet inclination
Lacerates the skin
When the violet violence
Of the storm comes
You don’t have the time
Or energy to think
When it will be over
