I have spent the last three days trying to come up with an idea for an orange post. It is Monday and I should be posting and yet nothing comes. So considering that oranges were my favorite fruit in childhood, and today is about the color orange, I’ll do a favorites list.
My favorites list:
Book: Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami – I’m sure this selection may be different tomorrow, but when I think of the books I’ve read in the last few years, this one really stands out.
Authors: Margaret Atwood, W.G. Sebald, and Haruki Murakami
Color: Fuchsia or magenta or anything in the purples family
Movie: Roman Holiday – I love Audrey Hepburn
Food: anything with spicy and eclectic flavors, such as Indian or Mexican cuisine
Song: This is a tough one since my favorites change from day to day, depending on mood. Here is one I’ve listened to a lot recently: “Sorrow is a Shadow” by Fallulah
Artists: Louise Bourgeois, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Lee Bontecou, Rachel Whiteread – I could probably name a dozen more
Painting: America Windows by Marc Chagall at the Art Institute of Chicago
City: Prague – I’ve been to Prague 3 times (once for almost 2 months) and there has yet to be a city that beats its ambiance and the Czech relaxed cool. I also had some amazing art experiences there.
Number: 7 – I consider it my lucky number. I would never live in a place that didn’t have a 7 in the address.
Quote: “A word after a word/after a word is power.” – Margaret Atwood
I’d love to know your favorites. Reply with your own list.
