Some time ago, not so far away, there lived a girl whose parents forgot proper childcare. She was virtually abandoned and neglected. She ended up on the streets begging for food.
One day, a rich merchant’s son came to her parents’ home. He was properly welcomed and treated. Suddenly, the girl’s parents remembered they had a daughter and thought to introduce her to the merchant’s son. They asked a neighborhood boy to find her. When he did, they ensured she bathed and dressed in the finest garments.
Upon seeing the girl, the merchant’s son was smitten. He asked for the girl’s hand in marriage, and this delighted her parents so. They quickly agreed.
“Dear sir, I am sure you are a lovely man,” the girl said to the merchant’s son, “and I could be happy with you, but I cannot marry you.” She turned to her parents looking at them lovingly. “Thank you for the bath and the new clothing. Now I must leave you. I must find my place in the world.”
And with that she left.
Many years later, the girl’s parents heard of a new queen who was beautiful and loving and was known as the Lilac Queen. Many many years later, they learned the Lilac Queen was their daughter.
